But, how much is it to recycle my  household hazardous waste products?

It’s completely free!

You may have noticed an “environmental handing fee” on the sale of new products. The environmental handling fee is NOT a government tax. No part of this fee goes to the government.

It’s important to note that there’s no refund to collect when dropping off your items for recycling.

What does the environmental handling fee pay for?

In case you didn’t know, the environmental handling fee covers all program costs! Collection, transportation, and recycling of your household hazardous waste products are all taken care of. All collected fees fund ReGeneration’s program so BC residents have nothing to worry about.

For more information visit our Environmental Handling Fee page.

I’m curious…how are the hazardous household waste products recycled?

Well, your flammable liquids and gasoline work great as an alternative fuel source which recovers energy. On the other hand, pesticides don’t have any alternative uses and so the only choice is to incinerate them.
