Product Care Association’s (PCA) Ontario LightRecycle Program completed May 31, 2016. Thank you to all the service partners who participated in the program. The details of the program are listed below. Although PCA no longer funds the interim program, you may continue to use our collection site finder to see if there is a collection site near you that may continue to accept lighting products for recycle.
PCA invested $1million in Ontario from June 1, 2015 – May 31, 2016 for the interim LightRecycle program for mercury-containing lamps.
The Ontario lighting industry voluntarily championed this LightRecycle program for one year as an interim mercury-containing lamps recycling solution which helped alleviate the funding pressures faced by municipalities.
PCA already operates successful LightRecyle programs in British Columbia, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec (as RecycFluo).
With new regulation on the horizon in Ontario, PCA hopes to continue working with and gain the support of industry and our collection partners to develop a more permanent recycling solution for lamps in Ontario.
